Introduction
We are the Ceylon Association of Medical Acupuncturists, the self-regulation body for the practice of Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Sri Lanka.
Vision
We aspire to raise knowledge regarding Medical Acupuncture and TCM in Sri Lanka, advocating on behalf of Acupuncture and TCM professionals while maintaining the highest professional standards and maximizing possibilities available for graduates of Medical Acupuncture and TCM to fully reach their potential in the healthcare sector in Sri Lanka.
Mission
To establish and maintain the highest professional standards for Medical Acupuncture and TCM practice in Sri Lanka, and to provide educational excellence and exceptional patient treatment.
Registration
On 2nd of June, 2022, Ceylon Association of Medical Acupuncturists was incorporated as a non-profit organization

WFAS Membership
The Ceylon Association of Medical Acupuncturists (CAMA) is an accredited member of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS).
Founded in 1987 in Beijing, China, WFAS is the only international academic organization in the field of acupuncture and moxibustion in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO). It brings together professional associations, research institutes, and universities from more than 50 countries and regions, working to promote safe, effective, and standardized acupuncture practice worldwide.
CAMA’s WFAS membership affirms our commitment to:
- Upholding internationally recognized standards in the practice of acupuncture.
- Strengthening academic, clinical, and research collaborations with global partners.
- Promoting safe, ethical, and evidence-based acupuncture practice in Sri Lanka.
- Providing our members with opportunities for international recognition and exchange.
Through this affiliation, CAMA contributes to the global advancement of acupuncture while continuing to serve the health needs of our community with integrity and professionalism.
Objectives
- To advocate on behalf of Medical Acupuncture practitioners, TCM practitioners and therapists
- To raise awareness regarding Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
- To support the development and improvement of educational programs in Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
- To support and foster academic freedom and a diversity of educational approaches within the field
- To establish and maintain high standards of Medical Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine practice in Sri Lanka
- To expand public access to high-quality health care offered by well-trained Medical Acupuncture practitioners, TCM practitioners and therapists.
- To promote evidence-based research in the field and to disseminate the findings among the general public and other healthcare professionals.
